The telephone revolutionized society in the 1800's. The telephone improved communication by being the new, cheap way to talk to people close by, or long distance. Once Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, people were able to pay less, and talk for as long as they wanted. The telephone improved business, because now if someone had to get in touch with someone else during work, or at another business, all they had to do was pick up the telephone and talk to them the easier way. It changed everyday life, and improved it because it made things a lot easier then sending a telegraph, or a letter which could have taken days to get to. You'd just have to sit home, and just pick up the telephone if you wanted someone to talk to. The telephone did not have anything to do with improving transportation. An C 04/12/2011 16:28

The steam locomotative ivented by George Stephson revolutionized society. Without the steam locomotative the U.S wouldn't have been connected with the rest of the world. For example the transcontinental railroad connected the west and the rest of the United States. Communication wouldn't be the same today because without the steam locomotative the west probably could have been another country.Steam locomotatives improved communication as well as transportation. For example when farmers wanted to get more money for their cattle they used the railroad systems to transport their cattle to big cities in order to get money. That example includes transportation and business improving.Lastly every day life improved because of the communication and transportation improving.
